Why pay out-of-pocket for therapy?
Like many specialty therapists, I don’t accept insurance as an in-network provider. Working out-of-network allows me to offer more personalized, flexible care that isn’t limited by insurance requirements, diagnoses or session caps.
This approach gives us more freedom to focus on what you actually need, protects your privacy and prevents me from having to share your personal details with insurance companies. It also allows therapy to move at a pace that feels supportive rather than rushed or forced. For many clients, this results in deeper, more meaningful work.
I’m happy to provide monthly superbills for clients who have out-of-network benefits and would like to explore reimbursement options with their insurance provider.
FAQS
Getting Started
-
If you have been feeling stuck, overwhelmed or just in a stage of life where you are wanting to get to know yourself better, therapy can be a supportive place to start. You don’t need to have everything figured out - we can explore that together.
-
That is completely NORMAL! Most people feel that way at first. We will go at your pace and my job is to help create an atmosphere where you feel supported and safe. There is no right or wrong way to open up!
-
That happens often, and is totally okay. We will work as a team and I will help things move along with thought-provoking, targeted questions that guide us toward what is most meaningful to you. Sometimes the most important work happens in those in-between moments.
-
Never! My approach is grounded in compassion and curiosity, not judgement. Everyone has reasons for why they do what they do and therapy is about understanding, not criticizing.
-
Yes, absolutely! All the emotions are welcome. Feeling deeply often means you are accessing something important.
-
Therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and comfortable being yourself. Trust your gut - if something feels right (or not), that is valuable information.
-
Yes! I offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions and get a feel for what working together might be like.
-
It is held over zoom or phone, whichever feels most comfortable for you.
-
You can ask about my approach, what sessions are like or share what’s bringing you in. There is no pressure - it is just a chance to connect.
-
I tend to connect well with people who are open to reflection, gentle humor and exploring their inner world - even if they are a little nervous at first.

It varies. Some people come short-term for a specific issue and others stay longer for deeper work.
-
Therapy can bring up big emotions. That’s normal and okay. If you feel unsettled, we can talk through how to care for yourself between sessions.
