Therapy for High-Functioning Anxiety in Los Angeles, California

Virtual therapy to help ambitious adults in Los Angeles & California navigate high-functioning anxiety, overthinking and the pressure to always stay in control

If you’ve found your way here, chances are your mind rarely slows down.

Maybe you have that typical “always on” personality - always thinking ahead, always planning, always in control. You’re easily irritated, struggle to sleep and often notice physical stress showing up in things like gut issues or tense shoulders that no massage can ever fix.

Or maybe your anxiety looks less obvious from the outside because you still manage to keep showing up, get things done and push yourself forward, even when you feel overwhelmed, mentally exhausted and stuck in a constant state of “what ifs”.

Your mind rarely lets you fully enjoy the present moment because you’re constantly focused on what could go wrong, whether you made the right decision or if you’ve somehow missed something important. Even when you finally have time to relax, the overthinking doesn’t really stop.

And underneath that need to stay in control is often a deeper fear: that if you stop overthinking, stop overpreparing or let go of control, things might start to unravel.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

Your mind is constantly racing - whether it’s what if scenarios or tomorrow’s to do list

You appear capable on the outside but feel anxious internally most of the time

You prefer to be in control at all times because other people usually end up doing it “wrong”

You mentally replay conversations or decisions long after they’ve happened

You struggle to fall asleep or wake up in the middle of the night worrying about things

You find it difficult to be fully present because your mind is always focused on what’s next

You’ve become so used to functioning with anxiety that it almost feels normal now

IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY

Therapy in Los Angeles for high-functioning anxiety can help!

You don’t have to live in an endless cycle of overthinking, worrying and mental exhaustion just to keep feeling like you’re holding everything together. If you’re tired of feeling anxious all the time and ready for things to actually change, therapy can help you understand the deeper patterns driving your anxiety and begin building a calmer, more grounded relationship with yourself.

THE BENEFITS OF THERAPY

What starts to change when anxiety stops running your life

Starting therapy for your anxiety isn’t about becoming less driven or never feeling anxious again. It’s about helping you detach from the idea that your mind needs to be keeping you safe at all times, so that you no longer feel like you have to stay “on” 24/7.

Understand the patterns driving your anxiety & why you’re stuck in survival mode

Build a sense of internal safety that isn’t dependent on being productive or in control

Break the cycle of overexerting yourself & trying to manage every possible outcome

Feel less emotionally reactive under pressure and more steady in stressful moments

Stop over-functioning in work or life just to manage your internal anxiety

Feel more grounded and present in your body instead of living mostly in your thoughts

Respond to uncertainty without immediately jumping into planning, fixing or preparing

Experience rest without guilt, restlessness or the feeling that you’re falling behind

HOW I CAN HELP YOU

How I approach therapy for high-functioning anxiety

My approach is warm, collaborative and focused on understanding what is happening beneath your anxiety, while also giving you tools to help you relieve your symptoms.

Chances are you are ambitious, highly capable of juggling a lot and driven to reach your goals. But at the same time, you’re also emotionally exhausted from always needing to be one step ahead and never having a moment to just rest.

In our sessions, my hope is to help you understand the deeper patterns driving your anxiety: the self-beliefs, the fears and the internal pressure that keep you stuck believing that something bad will happen if you don’t take control.

The goal isn’t to remove your ambition or stop you from caring deeply about your life. It’s to help you feel more grounded, steady and able to move through life without constantly feeling consumed by anxiety.

ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Justine Gordon, a therapist for high-functioning anxiety in Los Angeles, California!

I work with ambitious adults who appear high-functioning on the outside but internally feel overwhelmed by anxiety, overthinking and pressure.

Having grown up in a high-achieving environment myself, I understand how easy it is for anxiety and over-functioning to become the norm, especially when productivity and success start to shape your sense of identity and self-worth.

Over time, both personally and in my work with clients, I came to understand that anxiety isn’t something you can “push through” or outwork. Often, it’s connected to deeper patterns around pressure, fear and the need to constantly stay in control to keep yourself safe. This is the work I now help my clients do in therapy.

Aside from high-functioning anxiety, I also help clients navigate burnout & chronic stress, perfectionism & people-pleasing, imposter syndrome, high-pressure careers as well as relationship and postpartum challenges.
