Therapy for Relationships & Dating in Los Angeles, California
Therapy for ambitious adults in Los Angeles & California navigating dating, relationships and the pressure of trying to balance love with ambition
If you’ve found your way here, chances are your relationship with ambition has started affecting your relationship with love, connection or intimacy too.
Maybe you’ve spent so much of your life focused on building your future, career or goals that dating and relationships have continuously taken a back seat.
Or maybe you long for a deep sense of connection, but find yourself overthinking everything, struggling to open up, pulling away when things get serious or constantly questioning whether a relationship is truly right for you.
You may notice yourself struggling to trust people, staying in relationships that no longer feel aligned or walking away from good relationships because you feel like you can’t give your partner what they deserve.
At times, it can feel like your ambition and your relationships are pulling you in opposite directions. Like you somehow have to choose between success and connection. And if you pick one, you’ll inevitably lose the other.
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
⟡ Relationships often feel emotionally draining, confusing or harder than they “should” feel
⟡ You crave closeness but also feel overwhelmed when relationships become emotionally vulnerable or serious
⟡ You’ve outgrown relationships that once felt aligned, but struggle with guilt around moving on
⟡ You worry about choosing the “wrong” partner or wasting time in relationships that won’t last
⟡ You struggle to balance your ambition with intimacy, partnership or emotional availability
⟡ You tend to over-function, people-please or lose yourself within relationships
⟡ You often feel lonely, even when your life looks successful from the outside
IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY
Therapy in Los Angeles for relationships and dating can help!
Relationships don’t have to feel like something you’re constantly overthinking, avoiding or trying to fit into the small spaces left over at the end of your day. MY APPROACH
Therapy to help ambitious adults build healthier relationships
My approach is warm, collaborative and focused on understanding what’s happening beneath the relationship patterns you keep finding yourself stuck in.
You may be thoughtful, driven and emotionally aware, but still struggle with overthinking, vulnerability, emotional availability or balancing relationships alongside the pressure you already carry in the other areas of your life.
In our sessions, my hope is to help you understand the deeper fears, attachment patterns and coping strategies shaping your relationships so you can start relating to yourself and others differently.
The goal isn’t to change who you are or make you care less about your goals. It’s to help you build relationships that feel more secure, connected and aligned with the life you actually want.
ABOUT ME
Hi! I’m Justine Gordon, a therapist for relationships, communication and dating in Los Angeles, California!
I work with ambitious adults who feel stuck in relationship patterns that leave them overthinking, emotionally exhausted or struggling to fully connect.
Having grown up in a high-achieving environment myself, I understand how easily ambition, pressure and self-protection can shape the way we approach intimacy, vulnerability and relationships.
Over time, both personally and in my work with clients, I came to understand that relationship struggles are rarely just about dating itself. Often, they’re connected to deeper patterns around self-worth, safety, emotional closeness and the ways we’ve learned to protect ourselves. This is the work I now help my clients do in therapy.
Aside from dating & relationship challenges, I also help clients navigate perfectionism & people-pleasing, burnout & chronic stress, imposter syndrome, high-functioning anxiety as well as postpartum challenges.
RELATIONSHIP THERAPY FAQS
Still have questions about relationship therapy?
-
Absolutely. My relationship therapy isn't intended for couples but for individuals who are struggling to navigate relationships of any kind in their life and want to find a way to improve them. Many individuals seek therapy to better understand relationship patterns, dating challenges, attachment styles, communication difficulties and recurring experiences that show up in their relationships.
-
Couples counseling typically involves working with two partners together. Relationship therapy, as an individual therapy service, focuses on helping you understand your experiences, patterns, needs and challenges within relationships so you can create healthier and more fulfilling connections.
-
The best approach depends on the challenges you're facing and the patterns that may be contributing to them. In my work, I draw from several evidence-based approaches, including attachment-based therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic therapy. Regardless of what modality we use, the focus will be on helping you better understand yourself, improve communication, establish healthier boundaries, navigate conflict more effectively and create more secure and fulfilling connections with others.
-
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to learn more about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
-
All therapy sessions are held virtually through a secure online platform. Online therapy allows you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space, whether you're at home, in your office, or anywhere else in California.
